Entitlement of an Temporary worker

As a temporary worker,

1. Can I have access to free medical services for me and my family? Or do I need a medical insurance before travel to Canada?

2. Am I entitled for a child benefit?

If I am not eligible for the above two entitlement from day one in canada, when will I be eligible?

Also, if my PR application is approved while I am on temporary work in canada, do I need to go outside Canada to get the status changed? I have applied for the PR outside Canada.
