Re-entry into UK for a Tier-1 visa holder

This is an area for the discussion of matters related to issues about moving from one country to another. Examples could be about money transfer, moving and packing, validity of driving licence, etc..

It is not a general non-immigration, free-for-all area.

Re-entry into UK for a Tier-1 visa holder

Post by savkap » Wed Nov 09, 2011 3:58 am

Hi,

I tried searching for a thread on this topic but couldn't find one. Will appreciate if somebody could advise me on the query below.

I got my UK PBS Tier-1 visa on 30th July 2010 for a period of two years. I entered UK on 10th November 2010 but returned back to India after only 20 days. Now, with only 8.5 months left for my visa to expire, I have got a short-term job offer in London. My query is, will or can the immigration officer at the London airport deny me an entry into UK? My visa is a multiple entry but I heard there have been a few changes in rules related to PBS Tier-1 visa.

Will be grateful if somebody could help me out.

Thanks

They might ask you the reason for returning to UK after a long pause, in the worst case they might ask if you have booked a return ticket before your VISA expires. But it should be alright you can very well make entry.

As long as you're coming over to work, there's no issue. You also don't need a return ticket - there is no such requirement and no way that they can refuse you entry based on that.

I also agree with mulderpf, there is no reason for immigration office to stop you. I myself travelled back to UK after a 18 months break in India. Immigration officer did not ask any questions to me.

Another suggestion,

If you are coming on short term work, then have your offer letter or any communication related to it handy and show the officer if you are questioned.
