No entry stamp on HSMP visa at Heathrow (terminal 1)

Post by gordon » Thu Aug 23, 2007 10:21 pm

When I entered the UK on my HSMP entry clearance, I came via Ireland, where I cleared Irish immigration (and then changed planes to get to Heathrow). However, I realised that I did not get an entry stamp when I entered the UK, since there was no passport control at terminal 1 (something about CTA). And believe me, I got a weird look when I more or less asked to go through passport control again, at Heathrow.

I wonder whether this is going to be a problem going forward, when I otherwise might want to demonstrate my entry date, for instance, a few years from now, for ILR perhaps. I rang the immigration office at Heathrow to ask, but they seemed to think that for ILR I could just show the boarding pass.

Has anyone else had this experience, and is there anything that I can, or should, do about it now ?

Thanks in advance,
AG
