Entry time to UK

This is an area for the discussion of matters related to issues about moving from one country to another. Examples could be about money transfer, moving and packing, validity of driving licence, etc..

It is not a general non-immigration, free-for-all area.

Entry time to UK

Post by cgohil » Wed Dec 22, 2010 5:41 am

Hi,

I am asking the same questiions which many of people has asked before.

I got my visa in sep 2008 and i have not traveled to uk since I got my visa. I am now planning to go in first week of jan, my questions is:-
1. I have seen in many thread many people mentioned that u can travel anytime until ur visa is valid ?? Do I face any problem while I travel in Jan after a long break.

2. Is it mandatory that my port of Entry should be through heathrow..or I can enter from any other airport?

appreciate prompt reply on the same.

1. You can travel anytime during the time that you visa is valid - you should have no issues. What might cause an issue however, is if you want to extend or apply for ILR. Consider the facts carefully and if you would want to extend your visa in future, you need to look at the situation you will be in and the points you can claim (from the perspective of being in the UK and possibly not having a job for a while etc).

2. You can enter through any international border, it doesn't have to be Heathrow.

What visa do you currently hold and does it have an expiry date?
