Can I apply for Italian citizenship after 20 years of marriage.

Hi ,

I am married to an Italian for 20 years, but now due to domestic violence we do not live together. We do have 2 boys together that were born in the UK.
Will like to know if I can get my Italian citizenship if I'm separated from my husband for 7 years. Does that effect the process of the Italian citizenship?

Our marriage is already recognised in Italy.

Appreciate any advice.

I'm trying to get my Italian citizenship, after the Homeoffice denied my visa. So now will like to understand how can I apply for my italian citizenship if I am separated from my husband for 7 years. Will I have any problems because of that.

Since you are divorced / separated I can not answer.

However I do know that the process takes several years and won't help your situation with HO.

If your children are EU citizens though you should be able to apply to stay with the since they are dependant on your.
