CNF - Address in Paris ?

Post by indigal » Mon Aug 20, 2007 1:30 pm

Hello friends and neighbours! Been lurking about for a while and decided to join you all officially! Can anyone help this aging lady whose aging laptop seems to have eaten the address to where one makes application for the CNF in Paris? I really wouls appreciate it. Had it for almost a year on the laptop, but can't for the life of me find it now that I actually need it!

Many thanks

Forgive me, please!

Certificat d'Nationalitie Francaise

It is for one of the children in my care who was born in Pondicherry, and so were his parents (he was surrendered at a month old to an orphanage) and as this is one of our options, I wanted now to write to the address is Paris, where apparantly, is the only place one can apply - in writing, no email, no calls, etc...BUT, the laptop is still not giving up any of her secrets!

Unfortunately this cannot be done in India (Pondicherry)

Would you recognise the address if you see it? Was it the Ministry of Justice Nationality Section in Paris?

Ministère de la justice
Direction des affaires civiles et du Sceau
Bureau de la nationalité
13, place Vendôme
75042 Paris cedex 01
France

If that's not the right address, there is a telephone number: +33-1-44.77.60.60 where you could perhaps enquire of the right address. But if it's not, we can try some more searching to find it.

Your best option would be to ask someone at the french consulate in Pondicherry and talk to someone in 'Etat Civil' section. Since you are a french national they are supposed to help you. I know for a fact that the French consulate can process applications for additions of names to 'Livret de famille' and to process applications for french nationality.

Thanks for the replies. The address doesnt look right - I had the name of a gentleman also who was the contact. I'll have to look through the laptop yet again - but thanks anyway.

I'm not a French citizen !! I'm British, though I havent lived there for almost 20 years - I have no pull or push in any of these things unfortunately! The child was born in Pondicherry - so were is parents and grandparents. This is our hope for getting him the CNF - having read up on all the facts, it seems very likely that he can be rganted CNF and thence a French passport...keeping everything crossed!

Did the Parents and grandparents have french nationality? If they took the 'option' of acquiring french nationality when the french left Pondicherry, the child might be eligible for French nationality. If they had not opted for French nationality but acquired Indian nationality during independence, it might be a bit more complicated.

Maybe this page might be of some help?
