Entry into Schengen Malta,Netherlands with spouse Non EU

Post by cyberstud23 » Sat Feb 24, 2024 5:12 pm

I am British citizen who wants to visit Malta and Netherlands with my wife Non EU passport.

She is unemployed and we visited Spain and Portugal 2 years ago the visas attached to her passport.

We plan to visit Malta in May and Netherlands in Sept and she has the hotel accommodation and travel tickets booked for Malta and hotel accommodation for Netherlands.
Are flight tickets for Netherlands necessary as we don't know the exact dates of travel (I read that flight itinerary needed and some consulates need flight tickets) ?

So what's your question?

The only question I gathered is "are flight tickets to Netherlands necessary"; the answer is yes, as your approach is not quite correct.

Even though Schengen visa allows you to visit all Schengen area countries, when you're applying, you usually show trip to the country that you plan to go to.
Apply to Malta showing your Maltese tickets/etc., they may or may not give you a multi entry visa. If they don't, you apply for a Dutch visa afterwards.

Barclays bank is not giving stamp and the Malta Schengen visa document says
3 months bank statements stamped.

Most likely that's just a remainder from when it was tough to check authenticity. I'd ask Barclay's for a letter in writing that they don't stamp it just in case.

Things I would question if Ii had to process your application:

Is your wife unemployed (registered with jobcenter, actively trying to get a job) or a housewife (financially supported by you, taking care of the home, not actively applying for jobs)? One can be a red flag regarding potential illegal working, the other one isn´t really.

Spouse Bank statement and Ltd company details having wife name. What Ltd company and why is your wife´s name n it? If she has a Ltd company, how is she unemployed?

If you can book accommodation for the Netherlands, why can´t you book transportation? Usually you arrive the first day of your booked accommodation and leave on the last. Not that I am saying that you should, especially if it´s non-refundable transportation. The reasoning is just a bit odd.

I have booked accommodations, transport for Malta and Netherlands. It's more than 2 months apart and the VFS global case worker forcing to change the dates to make the visa single entry. We have travelled to Europe multiple times on multi entry visa and never faced this issue before. Also VFS case worker is only checking details for 1 country and asking weirdly to login to bank account to show proof of funds , hotel booking..

I am not sure why are you showing details for a trip to two countries. While you can travel to any country you want on a multiple entry visa, it's no good if you show it at the initial application - why would Malta give you a long visa if you don't plan to visit Malta after?

The logging in to bank account is weird and I think VFS worker is way too eager. Not sure how this can be combatted.

Malta at times provide only single entry visa and I want to travel multiple countries. I have real proof of travels and accommodations. Why should I not show it. The purpose of Schengen visa is to make it easier to travel Schengen region.
