First port of Entry to Schengen

Post by Freedoms » Tue Jul 05, 2022 8:05 am

If someone got single entry Schengen visa from one country, can his first port of Entry be another Schengen country? He will go to the country where he got the visa for within a week and stay in the main destination for the rest of his visa duration, so about 80 days.

Additional information: visa sticker reads family member of EU/EEA citizen. He applied for the visa as a dependent family member of an UK citizen who is a withdrawal agreement beneficiary in the Schengen country of his main destination. Does this have any relevance?

Thanks in advance.

Schengen authorities expect visas to be issued by either the first country of arrival or country where the person aims to spend the most time if it's not the first point of entry.

You must lodge the application for a Schengen visa at the Consulate of the country that you intend to visit, or – if you intend to visit more than one Schengen State, the Consulate of the country where you will spend the longest period.
Should be fine.

Thank you very much. Should he show onward ticket to his main destination when he is at the passport control of his first port of entry?

At least from my experience, I was asked about travel plans, places of stay and all that at the border, so yes, I would expect conversation to lead up to that point.
