German Green Card status for citizens of new EU countries

Post by ridac » Mon May 17, 2004 3:55 am

Hello,
I'm Slovak citizen having green card in Germany for 3.5 years already. Does my stay in Germany still limited to the 5 years? If I can change that, where can I find more information?
Regards,

Un-limited work permit in Germany

Post by ridac » Mon Jul 12, 2004 11:20 am

This information might help all new EU citizens.

Today I went to Arbeitamt and applied for un-limited work permit, I was able to do that in 30 minutes. You need to apply for that the following:
1) The old work permit.
2) Passport

You will fill a new work permit application and NO FEE for the new work permit.

Then in the same day we went to apply for permanent resident permit, here they gave us a card with picture which is valid for 5 years. They mention that after this 5 year we will get the permanent resident in case I'm still working at that time. You need for that: (NO FEE)
1) Un-limited work permit.
2) Passport.
3) Paper from the employer that you still working.

My wife gets exactly the same, i.e. un-limited work permit and resident card. :o
