Travelling to Spain with a child who's a UK Citizen

Post by malvar » Tue Feb 04, 2020 11:27 am

Hi,

I'm planning to travel to Spain soon. I have a non-EU passport with ILR. My child has a UK passport and will be travelling with me.

I note that applicants who have EU/EEA family members don't have to pay a fee. But most of the directives I read say that you must be a spouse of an EU/EEA national but nothing as a parent of an EU/EEA family member. Are children also considered as EU/EEA family members? I wanted to minimise the fees as much as possible. :)

Thanks!

Dependent parents of EEA citizens are Family Members for the purpose of EU freedom of movement.

It is unlikely that you are dependent on your UK citizen child.

So quite likely you will not qualify.
