US citizen w/perm. res. visa wanting to work in france

Post by willnoland » Thu Jul 15, 2004 8:28 pm

I am an american citizen with a full residency visa. i am eligible to apply for a british passport but have not. i am interested in working in france for AirBus at Toulouse airport, and i need to know what visa requirements i will have to meet.
does having a perm. res. visa, and being eligible for a uk passport mean that i have the same working rights as if i aquire a uk passport?

Hiya,

Having british permanent residency (ILR) will not permit you to work in France. The right to work in France is extended to EU nationals only, not permanent residents. You will have to apply for a french work permit and so on. Also remember you can loose your British ILR if you are out of the UK for more then two years.

Having a british passports solves all of these problems.

Cheers,

Marka
