EVisa and ILR

Post by varraj » Thu May 22, 2025 2:21 pm

Hi

I believe the deadline to apply for E-visa is 1st of June 2025.

I am currently have an ILR and also in India currently, have been residing in India for the last 4 weeks due to personal reasons.

I am back in London only on the 2nd week of June.

My ILR is a vignette on my old passport which I have always used for travel.

My question is, will I have any issues travelling back to the UK after 1st of June 2025 without having applied for Evisa (NTL),as I can only make this application If I was inside the UK.

Thanks
Varraj

That deadline is for people with expired BRPs and EUSS BRCs which will no longer be acceptable evidence of immigration status when travelling to the UK. People with old ILR stickers can still use it to travel:
People with indefinite leave to remain (ILR, also known as settlement) who use an ink stamp or vignette in a passport to prove their rights can continue to use their documents as they do today, including for travel, but are encouraged to make the switch to an eVisa to take advantage of the benefits it brings.

You should make an NTL application to get an eVisa: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... tal-status
