Hi,

1:I did IELTS in nov 2003 (7 band) wud that be any good?
Unfortunately, IELTS results in the previous two years are considered. Therefore, I don't think the 2003 result would be too helpful.

2:I have a masters degree from UK.
This again is one area that bewilders me. According to the guidelines, you can only proove your english language competency by means of your bachelors degree and not any higher degree!!! (I really fail to see the logic) but that is what the guidelines are. Therefore, again, your masters would not help you too much.

3:I I have done an advance Eglish level course (6 months) from a college in London (2004).
This is not mentioned in guidelines. You might be able to attach the test reports or references as additional evidences however, I doubt if this course by itself would be sufficient.

4:My bechlors degree is of 2 years from pakistan which i have been told is not equivalent to UK bechlors so I cant provide a letter from my college to prove my proficiency.

Since you have attempted IELTS in the past and are familiar with the format, I guess the best and fool-proof option for you is to attempt IELTS. If you get the HSMP the IELTS test report now would also help you once you apply for FLR. The test report in any case is made available fairly quickly so it should not delay your preprations much. :)

Best wishes!

This is another example how EXTREMELY easy it is to get admission in the british university.

Logically, you could only be admitted for MSc degree if your BSc degree is recognised in the UK.

You use it as pre-requisite to enter MSc education in the UK, How come now your BSc degree is not equivalent with UK bachelor:, DOUBLE STANDARD ????????

Hi jobi110

Your application is new or for extension.
If it is for extendsion and you have used your IELTS for initial application then you probably do not need to do IELTS again

Reason:
If you are working in the UK continuously then your English must be better ( there is already a thread about this in this forum) then before and if you take IELTS your score must improve or at least the same. Otherwise people will question the Credibility, COnmsistency of IELTS test.

This is not against the logic. In fact it is very logical Because:
1. BSc in the UK take 3 years, while MSc is just 1 years. If you study in the UK for 3 years your english should be better then if you just study for 1 years (remember this is about englich NOT your knowkedge on your field).

2. To study in the UK is normally required to have IELTS 6.5 (some even 7.0 for subjects like law, political science, etc) but what happen in the UK (in reality) many british universities/colleges (especially low rank one) admit foreign MSc student with IELTS 5.0-5.5. They just require you to pariticpate their english course organised by universities (another money making factories) after that you will be guiaranteed a place at the university. They do not care about your IELTS anymore you do not need to sit for IELTS again.

Why it is so easy to get admission, why they want to accept student with low qualification. There are too many british universities (majority of them are very small compared to their counterpart in the EU or good british universities). More place at the universities then the students.

So the dicision by HO is very relevant in case you observe the reality on the ground.
