Hello All
trying to do an application to renew BRP with ILR which expired 2 months ago after 10yrs but also noticed Indian passport had expired 4 months ago.
After we enter the passport number, issue/expiry date we can't go forward as it says in red enter expiry date in the future.
what to do now? should we go to the Indian embassy to renew the passport? or will they say BRP has expired and get that first?
thank you in advance

Renew passport then renew BRP. You don't need a BRP to renew a passport. But you need a valid passport to process your BRP.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

Thank you
Going to apply for the indian passport, on the checklist for documents to take is 'copy of valid visa/BRP'
trying to get some more info about this, would we need a letter with notary stamp for example? etc
The process is after filling the online form we need to book an appointment at VFS and take the documents with us, rather than get turned back it's better to get some clarity on this now.
I did try and ring but no one answers the phones these days and there used to be an enquiries counter before which i don't think they do anymore.
There must be other people who have been in a similar situation, could somebody please share your experience.
Any further advice please, thank you

The 10year BRP with ILR has expired and new one is being applied for but employer will be checking documents in 3 weeks.
When we enter BRP card number on HO website it says card expired you cannot use this service so that means a share code is not possible.
Do we tell the employer to do a manual check? will that work and what will be the right to work status given?
Please help

The employer can alternatively use the ECS. ILR never expires.

Or you can apply for new BRP and give the application number.

If your employers have previously checked your ILR status, then they are
not required to recheck.

A few months back we could not get a share code as there was a glitch on the HO website, every few days it would show different message. You guys gave a link for ECS which worked ok, the person in question works for a large company and at this branch most of the workforce are immigrants who come and go so maybe that's why they check docs regularly.
The person checking docs has been told what ILR means but said your card has expired and you will be suspended which caused a lot of worry. ( they are also from an immigrant family so should know better)
Have applied for new BRP and gave them the application no.

Just at the document uploading stage:-
Person has been at a govt dept job over 10 years so have all wage slips etc and at same address longtime.
On the doc checklist it states 'Evidence to prove your continuous residency in the UK since becoming a permanent resident.
The docs you provide must cover every year since you became a permanent resident'
We are applying for 'To update, replace or transfer your BRP'
The BRP we had expired after 10 years but there was ILR vignette in old passport.
Should not we be providing docs for last 10years only?
How many docs are needed for each year?
Thank you, please advise
