WP expires in 2009 What next?

For a person whose WP (Skilled Worker) Expires in end 2009 and the tier system comes in effect Autum 2008. So will the employer apply for a Work Permit? How does it apply to persons already in UK on WP. ILR is due in 2010. confused

There could be transitional arrangements in place for existing WP holders when Tier 2 is implemented later this year

What is the status of spouses (dependents) of a WP holder? Will they be allowed to be in employment or be self employed as it is now?
