Extension criteria after 1 year for HSMP applicants

Post by rckybhardwaj » Sat Aug 28, 2004 12:49 pm

Dear Forum members,
I am in the UK for the last 3 months. I had a couple of job interviews and it didn't work out, so for the time being to support my self here I am working as a werehouse person in a factory nearby, not exactly my job title i am looking for.
Could any of the members please let me know, what are the criteria the HSMP team take into account while making the renewal after the 1 year period.
I have the NHS registration, the NI number, the SAvings account in a bank and am paying the NI and tax now from this job. If I am not lucky to find my title job, for which i am trying very hard, what are the chances i could get an extension.
I am staying in UK with my uncle and so i dont have to worry about my spending as boarding and lodging is free. I also have many letters from employers about being unsuccesful.
Can anyone who has got an extension let me know please..

All relevant details are on www.workingintheuk.gov.uk website.

Since you have some nine months before your initial LTE expires, I would recommend that you find at least a part time job in your profession at all costs (salary is not that important in your case):

a. It will give you a better launchpad for future jobhunting.
b. The HO will take you more seriously when it comes to granting you an extension.

It is impeartive that you stick to your HSMP designated profession. There is a question on the FLR (IED) that requires you to specify what kinda workl you have been doing in the 1st year

Also this subject has been covered in the FAQs

Have there been any recebt renewals - please update the forum - because I expect HSMP renewal traffic to be picking up in the next couple of months
Where there is a will there is a way.

Not necessary to work in the designated field

Post by bj » Sat Sep 25, 2004 1:00 pm

Dear Chekmate,

Please we need to clarify this. There is a posting from someone who received email from homeoffice stating that it is not necessary to do the job in the designated area and HSMP holders can do any type of jobs as far as they do not avail the public funds.

I think they are allowed to work in any field and it will not have any effect on renewals as far as they prove they are legally employed and can support themselves.

Thank you very much in advance.

you only have to show that you have been economically active, i.e that you have been earning some money. it doesnt matter what work you been involved in. so long you were earning enough to support yourself/family without claiming benefit.
