A family apart!

Post by harvey160384 » Fri Aug 10, 2007 12:37 am

A friend of mine has just got married to a girl from india, the girls parents live here in the uk and she is also here on stay for 2 years on a marriage visa, her brothers are however still in india and all attempts to bring them to uk even for a hol has been denied, all appeals have failed, they are both over 18, i think that may be a reason why, but if anyone has any ideas, Help pls.

Returnability, a bit like bouncebackability.

If they can show they will return cos of commitments, u should be ok. My gf is Russian, first visa was hard, cos we had to show basically that she wasn't gonna stay here and bugger the law. Loads of proof really, and bear in mind it's gotta be inrefutable, they're not daft, they know documents can be bought.

We got letters from uni (proper), flat deeds, letter from employer, all things that would make bunking off into UK difficult.

It's not easy mate, we where lucky I think cos we never had this board, we just did what we thought...

When you say all attempts to bring them over have failed, have they tried to make settlement applications of some sort?

If so, and they've been refused, they have a very limited chance of getting a visit visa.

Do you know what the immigration status is of the girl's parents? How did they manage to get to stay in the UK, and yet the girl needs a spouse visa to stay here and the girl's brothers can't even get here?

Sounds a bit strange.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Have they ever applied for visas other than for a visit?

Then the ECO is VERY likely to refuse a visit visa, as he will say that the previous applications for settlement show they don't intend to return to India.
