family based immigration

Post by ravon » Wed Jul 22, 2009 12:15 pm

My family migrated to the US in July 2009, on a immigrant visa. My wife was sponsored by her sister. After arriving in the US myself and my son left the US as my son is in his final year of school in India. We intend to return back to the USA after his exams in April 2010. My wife and my daughter are in the US, and my daughter is joining university in August 2009.

On arrival in US I have been stamped on the passport with a stamp stating admitted, date stamp and against class it is mentioned F-12 and in my sons passport it is mentioned F-13. Now I learn that I should have a I 551 stamp on th passport before I leave USA. Is this stamp different from the ADMITTED stamp that they have affixed? We were told that our Green card will arrive at our address in 3 to 4 weeks.
