Family Dependant Visa extension

Hi All, hope you are doing well. Need your inputs in my scenario and help is really appreciated!! I'm a British citizen and my wife is on Family dependant visa. She is on maternity break and out of UK for almost 5 months and would like to extend the stay for few more months. She is on same visa from last 3 years and is due for extension in next year. I have below queries and please help..
1. If she stays out of UK for more than 6 months then would there any problem when visa extension is applied next year?
2. If she stays out of UK for more than 6 months then all of these days are not countable towards ILR? Is the clock going to be reset? I have got different input stating all these days will be counted but she just have to stay for the number of days which she is out of UK after 5 years, meaning - if she is out of UK for 8 months then she should complete 5 years 8 months to apply for ILR, is this correct?
