Hi
I am on Tier1 and want to bring my mother in law to UK to visit us.
I have few doubts if someone can answers this would be grateful.
1) My visa is less than 6 month and extension is due in Dec 2011 will she get 6 month visa?
2) We (me & Husband) are living in shared accomodation, is it compulsary to show tenancy agreement? Can we book Hotel for her and show?
3) My mother in law is not working and dependent on her husband who is a farmer. And even we send her money regularly. Will that cause a problem in visa?
4) How much money we - the sponsor need to show in our UK Bank for her visit for 2-3 months visit?
5) Last question -Do we need to book her Flight Ticket in Advance before applying for family visitor visa?

The visa will be most likely valid till your visa expires. It is not guarantee that your visa will be extended further.

How big is the shared accommodation?. will it be overcrowded with your MI law?. If so then you may have to book her hotel, but sometime that is not a wise thing particularly if she is elderly, doesn't speak much English, therefore putting in her hotel might not be the wisest thing to do.

No it shouldn't matter. You will need to explain this in the sponsorship letter

Do you know guys know how long does it take to get a visa from India?
This form is v cool ...I was waiting for so many days but Mr. Khan thnx for ur help.

How is the £2000 calculated?
I would say £500 for return ticket and £1500 topside for spending money, living costs,presents etc for the two months she is going to be staying here in the UK. This is an adequate amount that the sponsor will need to show they have for disposal at mother in laws visit

The ECO will have nothing concrete in writing that your visa will be extended, therefore he will not be in a position to give applicant(mother in law) a visa longer than yours because if you may not be here, then who is going to look after your mother in law and where is she going to stay without you. Thats why I think he will give visa up to the date your expires. If you could somehow show your visa will definitely be extended, then there will be a good chance she will get full 6 months instead of say 4-5 months

From India a visitor visa can take up to 4 weeks or more depending how busy the post where you are applying is
