Family visa for spouse - number of month with current employer

Post by basicdiagrams » Fri Feb 24, 2023 7:33 pm

Hi all,

I am a British citizen and I've got my first job in the UK on 3rd October last year and received my first payslip on 26th October (with annual salary over £18,600). My wife plans to apply for a Family visa beginning of April this year, on the basis that the financial requirement Cat A will have been met after 3rd April. Now, I've come across a post on a different forum that says that "The 6 months you need to show for the financial requirement will not start until the date of the first payslip, and you have to explicitly cover every single day of the 6 months using the payslips."

So in other words, it is as if I wasn't employed until the date of my first paycheck, which sounds a little strange to me. The UK Gov 1.7 Financial requirement document (https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... rement.pdf) states that the requirement is for the sponsor to be "with current employer for 6 months or more", and I can prove that by submitting my contract of employment in addition to the 6 payslips.

Can somebody clarify if we should wait until 26th of April (i.e. the date of my 7th payslip) or we can apply when I will have stayed with the employer for 6 months, which will be on 3rd April 2023?

Many thanks

This is what is known and followed,

Can somebody clarify if we should wait until 26th of April (i.e. the date of my 7th payslip) or we can apply when I will have stayed with the employer for 6 months, which will be on 3rd April 2023? 6 months requirements evidenced by letter from employer, 6 months pay slips and 6 months account statements to corroborate pays slips suffices.

Many thanks

Thanks, so beginning of April should be safe for us to submit the application?
