Family Visit - Mother in Law - Gap between Visa applications

Post by Roopa Khanna » Wed Jan 04, 2012 7:41 pm

Dear,

My MIL is currently in UK on a family visit visa for the past 3 months. She is 59, a widow, gets a monthly pension, and is financially independent. Her family visit visa gets expired in March.

1) Once she goes to India in March, how long should be the gap, to apply for a family visit for her again?

2) We intend to apply for a 2 year family visit visa this time around. What should we provide to ensure that she gets the two year visa? If we go through a UK based solicitor for this 2 year visa, will it have any better chance?

Thanks a lot,
Roopa

Your MIL can only spend 6 months in a 12 months period. That means she will not be able to apply before September 2012.

Speaking from personal experience it is a bit difficult to get a 2 yrs multiple visa just after one visit.but you can apply if you so wish.

Getting a solicitor to prepare your papers does not guarantee success. Its important you explain why your MIL wants to apply for a 2 yrs multiple visa

Also- to clarify - even if your MIL is granted a 2 year multiple entry visit visa, she can spend 6 months in any 12 month period in the UK.
