Family Visitor Visa - Proof of Monthly Income

Post by rachsach » Wed Feb 15, 2012 5:44 am

Hi Guys,

I hope someone can help me with this.

I am currently in the UK on Tier 1 General visa from the last 2 year. My parents are planning to visit me in the summer and will be filing the family visit visa sometime in July 2012 from India.

The only concern I have is that my father is self employed and his income is not regular, so his personal bank statement shows vary amount of inflow and outflow of cash every month. Also, from the last few years, he has not filed Income Tax (IT) return.

He has around Rs 2.5 lakhs in his personal bank account with inflow and outflow cash and 1 lakh in other savings account – my question is that if they apply for the visa without Income Tax return, would it be an issue?

Please advise.

Thanks
Romila

Tax returns or business accounts would help but are not mandatory requirements. Besides, this is not an issue of maintenance (as you could easily stand in for that requirement); it's an issue of credible ties to homeland that motivate one's return.

I am in the same situation and I am spnsoring my parents to come to the UK for a visit...what are the maintenance requirements? and also when you say we need to prove ties to the homeland. How do i go about this. My father is retired and mum has always been a housewife.

Thanks for you help

There is no tangible sum for visits. They or you need to have sufficient funds to meet the costs of their visit but given they may stay with you in your house, that could be a very small amount. Generally you need to provide recent historical bank statements that show savings or a regular cash flow.

A recent posting on the forum cited the following refusal statement:
"you do not have strong social or economic ties to Albania to satisfy me that you intend to leave the uk"

Ties to homeland might include work, pensions, property or social responsibilities; quite literally anything that motivates their return and that would not be readily abandoned for a better life in the UK.
