Father of a British Child

Post by NewStart2020 » Fri Dec 27, 2019 5:34 pm

I am looking for a visa as the parent of a British child. I am from an English-speaking country and meet all the requirements for the visa. My partner and I have just split and she has just left for the UK with the child (as per our agreement).

The only thing I don't understand is how to meet the financial requirement (adequate maintenance) while outside the UK. Does anyone have any advice on this, or can it only be met through savings? Would a UK job letter work?

(I am aware the requirement is not the higher requirement of the spouse/partner visa, and is a reduced rate calculated on income minus rent and council tax being equal to or more than the same rate of income support for my situation.)

You would be applying under Family life (as a partner or parent), private life and exceptional circumstances, see - https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... .0-ext.pdf

I have assumed you have split meaning separated? As in not in a relationship. If not, the above still applies if you do not meet the Financial Requirement.
