My visa ran out in April 2006 and since then I have lived in Brazil. We have been in daily contact and have emails, phonebills and instant messenger print outs to prove this.
I became engaged to my fiancée in Ausgust 2006 when he came to visit me in Brazil for 3 months.
Now we want to marry. We have had to wait until this time for my divorce to be finalised (this was also to a UK citizen) but this should be done in the next few weeks. We will apply for a fiancé visa. We intend to live in his parents house for the time being and they are happy with this arrangement- they have a 4 bedroom house, 2 bathrooms etc. And including us there will be 4 adults living there.
My fiancée earns approximately £1,200 a month through being self employed and will also get a full time job (the self employed job can be done in the evenings and at weekends as it is based online). His parents will also help out by giving a monthly sum if required. This we expect to be around £1,500 minimum a month take home pay plus extra from parents. We also have around £2000 savings (and will have another couple of thousand when I sell my things in Brazil)
My questions:
a) is this enough money to prove I can support him for 6 months
b) are the accommodation arrangements acceptable
c) how long after my decree absolute comes through can we apply for a fiancée visa (it was granted on the basis of two year’s separation from my first husband)
d) How long does it take from application (which will do online) for a decision on a fiancee visa to be taken in Brazil
e) Will I be called to an interview and if so will it be in Rio?
f) Is our evidence folder enough?
1. How we met – photos, wage slips to say we met at the same place of work, letters from people who witnessed the start of our relationship
2. First holiday we took to Brazil when he met my family
3. Evidence of our move to a new city in the UK together – wage slips, new home cards from family, bills, gym membership, photos
4. Time apart – instant messenger print outs (have about 600 pages I assume just a sample will do) emails, telephone bills, flight tickets from when he came to visit me, photos etc
5. Section on where we will live in the UK if visa is granted – letter of support from parents, photos of house, letters from my fiancés employers (even though self employed it is a permanent arrangement and 3 months notice is required on both sides), budget for the next 6 months to prove he can support me, wage slips, bank statements
6. Section on marriage plans – statement that we intend to go to the registry office 2 weeks after I come into the country and give Notice of intention
My final concern is about the timings. If we can apply as soon as the divorce has come through I would want to start the application process in late January – would it be acceptable to say that I intend to come over to the UK in March (we don’t have to buy the ticket first do we?) and then marry in about April. Do we have to be specific about the dates that I intend to come over to the UK (because it obvisouly depends on whether the visa comes in time).
Sorry for all the questions but I do like to get things sorted in my mind.
