filling of professional forms etc.

Post by Zebrudaya » Sun Dec 05, 2010 11:22 am

Dear friends

Please I need your advice. After obtaining ILR ( which is stuck into one`s passport), can on start filling in "British citizen" in forms especially professional forms which wants the people to describe themselves as to their nationality/ country of origin etc.

I know that after ILR, someone can receive social benefits and is no longer subjected to immigration control etc ( in other words, has the attributes of a citizen, even though he is yet to acquire a British passport per se).

My question is this: if one with ILR claims "British Citizen" in any form he fills, will he be said to be dishonest? Please the Gurus and other experienced people like moderators should help out here. I personally think that anyone given ILR has the protection of the British government for its citizens and therefore can rightfully claim to be one. What do you think?
Thank you.

You will not be able to term yourself a British Citizen until you have applied for and been granted British Citizenship. To give your nationality as British before this would be considered fraudulent.
