Finally got my tier 2 visa

Post by Kan482141 » Fri Jan 03, 2014 9:42 pm

After a year long battle with the home office I finally got my tier 2 general (employer sponsored visa)

This website did help me but also confused the hell out me at times when I really needed sincere and experience-based advice!
You can call me a phd in tier 2 general guidance and whatever help/advice you need don't hesitate to drop a line!
I switched from post-study work visa to tier 2 general

Regards

EL

Hi Kan, congrats on winning the long battle with the UKBA. I am currently on a tier 4 student visa, i have finished studying but having a hell of time getting a Tier 2 sponsor. I have worked in IT for over 8 years, please do you have any suggestions?

How long you've got left before your tier 4 runs out?
Like I mentioned I switched from tier 1 post study work. But I know it's lot easier if you're switching from tier 4. I mean the skill level and salary threshold.
All I can say is keep applying for jobs and if you do get it then all you need is the employer to have license and you getting paid at least 18000 pa or in some cases even 17k pa would do !

Quite incorrect. Some bad advice being given.

The salary requirement is quite strict and is as follows:
You must be offered a job paying above either £20,300 OR whatever the salary for your SoC code (to be found in the codes of practice).

Example 1:
I am offered a job paying £20,300 but the SoC code for this job says £23,000. My visa will be rejected because I need to be paid at least £23,000.

Example 2:
I am offered a job paying £18,000. My visa will be rejected because I need to be paid at least £20,300 for any job.

I hope that helps...

PhysicsKate is absolutely right. Tier 2 rules have been updated some time ago now.

EL it is ironical that you are giving wrong immigration advice to people now, just say you don't know if you don't know. bad advice.

The trouble on this website is that everyone comes across as an immigration expert! And that actually misguided me for over a year...

Both of you guys, if you know that much already then what are you doing here ?
