Finding Job on visitor visa in UK

Hi,

My brother stays in London, i am planning to visit UK to meet him & his family.

I have 6+ yrs experience in J2EE. Is is legal to look for job when on visitor visa in uk? If any company agrees to file WP for me, then do I need to go out and enter UK again (on wp) or simply visitor visa can be converted to WP?

You can attend interviews on Visitors VISA.

once a job is obtained you will have to leave the country whilst your prospective employer seeks a work permit.

You cannot switch from Visitor to work permirt employment!!!

Pl advise how long does it takes to process a WP application? Is it possible for me to just go to any other neighbouring country (instead of my home country) when the application is in process and come back to UK once it is approved.

WP applications turn around time varies - please read www.workingintheuk.gov.uk

once approved you must get Entry Clearaance from your country of legal normal residence (i.e home!) not third country!!

Dear Chess,
I see this forum very good. I have taken lot of suggestions from this board for post dated entry clearance.
I have a hsmp entry clearance postdated ie from April 03 ,2006 . I am planning to attend interviews on a visitor visa in 2nd week of february. So I am assuming that it is ok to attend interviews on visitor visa. Once I get an offer I would then leave and enter UK under hsmp. I am going to US on a business trip and planning to stay in London in my return trip for few days and attend the interviews.
I have a friend in UK who can give invitation for a visitor visa.
Let me know if this procedure is ok ?

THere is very low chance that you will get visitor Visa, as already you are stamped for postdated HSMP Visa.
