19 y/o first time - ILR -> BRP

Post by thabang » Wed Sep 16, 2020 4:57 pm

Hi,

I'm 19 and applying for a BRP. My parents usually do this for me. So this is new to me.

I currently hold indefinite leave to remain status inside of my old expired passport which has an expiry date - does this mean it isn't 'indefinite'? Unless the expiry date holds no meaning.

My main passport also expires on the 1st of November, would I still be able to apply for the BRP and have it processed or would I need to go about renewing my passport?

Considering the current situation at hand (COVID-19), the South African embassy in London isn't open and accepting new applications. So, I am in a bit of a situation and would like to know if my situation is within reasonable grounds of being accepted for the BRP(NLT) card?

Also, if this means anything, my little brother was born in Brtiain, making him British. Father has ILR and a BRP supporting this. My mother also has ILR. Nevertheless, I do not know if anyt of this means anything in my specific case.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Have you reviewed the govt web page relating to BRP application?

https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence- ... e-visa-brp

What does your vignette actually state?
The expiry date on ILR cards and other ILR documents relates to the expiry of the document, not the expiry of the status - the status is indefinite and will only lapse mainly due to more than two years absence from the UK or if UKVI cancels it.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Should be okay to apply.

However, alternatively, consider Naturalisation?
