FLR(M) advice

Post by newbie11 » Sat Mar 05, 2011 4:41 pm

Hi all,

I've tried posting questions on a different site but wasn't getting responses so thought I'd try here.

I'm Australian currently on Tier 5, my partner is British citizen (dual nationality) and we have been living together in the UK since early May 2009. We are going to be applying for the FLR(M) unmarried partners visa just before my current visa expires as it will be 2 years cohabitation by then (have been advised that this is ok & my current visa stays valid if registered/recorded post before it expires).

For our first 8 months we lived with my partner's Granddad - no tenancy agreement & all bills were in Granddad's name - he passed away at the end of this time; my partner's uncle owned the property and lived 2 doors down so we can get a letter from him to say we lived at the address for that time period. We then moved to a place (sharehouse) for the next year with no formal tenancy agreement and rent & bills were all inclusive. Now we are in our own place.

I'm still trying to gather up any documents I can find to go over the 2 years - back to those first 8 months where we lived with family members, all bills were in the family members' names and not ours, we're having a few problems with gaps and having enough:
* As bills etc weren't in our names for that time we do not have a lot of official letters, and we did not get a lot of mail anyway
* I have bank, NI and telephone letters for May to July 2009, but nothing until March 2010 (by which stage we were in a new place)
* At the moment we can't find any official letters for my partner until October 2009 (his bank statements are electronic so he can't get them as a letter unless requested, and he didn't for those dates)
* My partner has lots of letters written from family members back in Australia sent to our address for May to September 2009 - would we be able to use those?

Other things:
* My partner was registered with the local surgery while we lived there (first 8 months) - would the surgery have records or something we could use?

We'll be having another big look through all our papers to see if we can find anymore documents, but I just wanted some advice in the meantime/in case we can't find more. I'm more confident about having enough documents from 2010 onwards but I'm going to keep looking anyway.

Hope someone can help!
