France business visa for UK Tier-1

Post by t1s2010 » Mon Sep 12, 2011 4:25 pm

I am working in London on tier-1 visa and I need business visa to visit Paris once in a while with the same organization.

Tried to find out information, but a little confused.
Please help with few queries

1) I tried VFS website,it has some DOM/TOM in fee section? What is it?

2) When I apply for France business visa? Is it multiple entry visa by default? As I may need to make day/weekly trips around the year, I need a multiple entry visa for couple of years. If any exist???

3) Once I have France business visa, I hope a tourist visa (schengen visa) is possible as well at a later stage?

4) How long, it will take to get a business visa?

Esstentially, on VFS website, it is really confusing to understand TOM/DOM details. FAQ is no great help either.

Thanks for the help..

A Schengen visa is not multiple entry by default, but you can ask for it. For my Schengen visa applied to the Dutch embassy, I clearly marked on my form that I want a multiple entry visa and I made sure that my invitation letter mentioned that I would be going back for subsequent meetings and they issued me with a multiple entry visa.

You can enter as a tourist on your business visa (a business visa is also a Schengen visa), however, I would not visit before going in as a business visitor first.

Give yourself some time - for the Netherlands it took 3 working days, but I believe they are quite fast. And remember to check if they are not on holidays etc. Give yourself at least 10 working days if at all possible.

As you are on Tier 1, I'm assuming you are applying from the UK? In that case the visa fees are €60. You should look at the French embassy in the UK, not India (unless you are applying from India??). DOM / TOM refers to French Overseas Departments and Territories (don't think India falls under this).

Hey mulderpf, Thanks a ton. Quite helpful.

So, with a business visa, going as a tourist at later stage is a non-issue. Great.

Yes, I am in London and company will be applying on my behalf.
TOM/DOM were confusing. and then I didn't see business/tourist categories in the list.

Thanks again.
