French-issued Schengen Visa for visting other countries

Post by incubus72 » Tue May 05, 2009 9:43 am

Hi,

Sorry if the same question has been posted before, but I'm still a little confused.............

I'm a UK citizen and my South African fiancee is here in the UK on a de facto (unmarried partner's) visa. We were due to take a trip to France last month, for which she obtained a Schengen Visa. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to postpone the trip until later this year. In just over 2 weeks time we will be going to Denmark And Sweden for a few days.

She was told by the French Embassy that France MUST be her first point of call, yet I have read in a few posts that the only necessity is that the visa has to be applied for at the embassy of the country which is intened to be the main destination during the validity of the visa.

We'd like to just clarify this if possible, as we don't want to land in Copenhagen only to find that she is refused entry. Similarly, we don't want to encounter any problems when we then visit France later this year.

If need be we'll arrange a last-minute day-trip to Calais this weekend to get that stamp!

Can anyone advise?

Thanks!

Dave

You can use it as you like but if you don't land in/visit France on it the Frogs won't issue you with another.

Happened to my mate's Russian wife, ironically she did land in France on it (actually drove) but never got her passport stamped....

Applied again - denied....

Yes, that should be somewhere in the CCI.

If you really want to do that make sure that you have a multiple entry visa.

You may need to leave your self a bit of extra time in Dover to try to find the French customs officers. They often do not bother stamping, and sometimes the booths appear unmanned.
