French EU spouse Schengen visa travel alone :?:

I was issued multiple entry 1 year french EU spouse Schengen visa, my question is the following:

1. Can I travel alone without my husband, it says EU spouse on my schengen visa?

2. Can I enter other schengen country such as sweden?

If you got a free visa under the terms of directive 2004/38/ec, then you are supposed to be accompanying or joining your wife. If not, you may need a visa in your own right - pay the fee and submit the required evidence.

I don't agree as I once applied for a Schengen visa in Austria embassy last summer (although refused) but I didn't pay for it even though I intended to travel alone.

The fact is that the visa guidance states that those travelling alone are not covered by the directive. The OP may or may not have problems. He will not be a person subject to a "minimum check" and will be required to have accommodation, sufficient funds, insurance, etc.
