Further Leave to Remain query about finances

Post by chantalg83 » Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:09 am

Hi there,

I have just married my husband in the UK. He is a British citizen and I am Australian. We have booked our appointment to apply in person for a FLR visa and biometric appointment. We seem to have most things organised however I am a little concerned about one section in the FLR application form...... section 11 asks to supply evidence of finances. We can do this easily however my husband is self employed which has proven to be a little difficult when applying for things (credit etc.). Although we have a constant stream of income without recourse to public funds I am not sure if they will be harder on us because my husband is self-employed. Do you think that this will be a problem? If so is there anything else that we can provide in our application to prove that work and income is steady?

Desperate for information

Many thanks,

If your husband is registered as self-employed with HMRC he should submit a copy of his most recent self-assessment tax return and business bank accounts...and a set of company accountants if he has an accountant.

one more question........

Thank you for your quick response!! My husband has only been back in the UK for 4 months, previously we were in Australia for 2 years. He has been registered as self employed since January 2011. Therefore he does not have a recent self-assessment tax return. Is there someway that this can be done? Also we have not yet secured an accountant but need to asap. The only thing we can provide is copies of his business accounts (bank statement etc.). Is there any other advice you can offer us? We also have copies of his pay slips and bank statements whilst he was employed full-time in Australia. Will it help if we provide these?

Thanks again
