You will appreciate that bank statements are part of the papers you need to take with you so in that sense you do need to show a balance!

However if your question is actually ..do I need to show a minimum amount in the bank(?), well then I think the answer is no. But the totality of your financial evidence needs to show that there is no reason for you to claim Public Funds once you have the ILR visa.
