BRP RC

Post by God, give me patience » Tue Nov 27, 2012 3:42 pm

Hello People,

I am just one of many frustrated people waiting for their replacement BRP. Mine was stolen in June and so I applied for a replacement in August 2012. After long waiting period of more than 3 months, my replacement BRP has arrived.
However, to annoy me further, they have issued an incorrect BRP with incorrect "type of Permit" details. Basically, they have just put the wrong visa status.
This is unbelievable!!!!!!! When I emailed the BRP team with this error, they replied saying they can not help and I need to contact my case worker. I can not find any contact details for the case worker apart from their general enquiry number 0870 606 7766.
Can anyone help? God forbid but has anyone else experienced something like this?
I would really appreciate your responses.

Many thanks.

Apple2710 - How do you know about the location of your documents? Were you contacted by your case worker?

Am I the only one who applied in September who hasn't received the BRP? Everyone else is either patiently waiting or has received their BRPs. Please if any of you could share your September timelines, I would greatly appreciate it.

BRP Saga

Post by markcinlondon » Thu Nov 29, 2012 11:24 pm

Timeline for my wife's BRP(RC) name change application:
Date BRP(RC) application posted: 07-09-12
Date of letter from UKBA acknowledging receipt: 17-09-12
Date of letter from UKBA requesting Biometrics Enrollment: 26-09-12 (received 29th)
Biometrics completed at post office: 01-10-12
Faxed Sheffield office: 23-10-12
Mailed brpdelivery@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk (to no affect): 24-10-12
Requested assistance from MP: 02-11-12
MP sent letter to UKBA: 06-11-12
Mailed Sheffield office request for expedition: 19-11-12
Date of approval (per letter): 27-11-12
Date of return of passport and other documents: 29-11-12
Date BRP received: 29-11-12

My first post, but this form has been a help many times, so hopefully this helps someone else.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to tell which actions, if any, had any impact. My gut instinct is the MP letter is the most useful, but I doubt that to a certain degree.

Cheers and good luck to those still waiting - it is horrible just how bad it is.

UKBA ruins Christmas

Post by njsaunders » Fri Nov 30, 2012 3:27 pm

My first post on this thread and as with others it is with a heavy heart that I find it.

My wallet was stolen out of my gym locker a little over 2 weeks ago and I am (was?) due to fly back home to the US on Christmas Eve to see my family.

I recognize that my little tale of woe pales in comparison to some of you who waited for months so I'll keep the whining to a minimum. I went ahead and mailed my MP on the off chance of a Christmas miracle. Otherwise I'm looking to rebook flights for my trip to a later date, hopefully being far enough in advance to guarantee I'll have my replacement BRP in time. What do you all think is realistic? Mid February? March?

My timeline:

Application posted: 16-11-2012
Date of acknowledgment letter: 20-11-2012
Date acknowledgment letter received: 22-11-2012
Sent email to MP: 30-11-2012

Thanks all and good luck

Hi I am new on this forum. I applied for replacement due to name change in July. Waiting for nearly five months. Contacted my mp last week. All my mp managed to find out was my application was directed to case working team on 1 Aug and no decision has been made. Sent an email of complain a week ago. Standard e mail saying my complaint will be dealt within 20 working days. Frustrating...

My timeline:

Sent application 14 Jul
No acknowledgement letter was received
Biometrics were taken 8 Aug
Sent a letter to MP 20 Nov
sent complaint 23 Nov
Received a letter from MP 25 Nov

I'm new here as well.
My situation is quite similar to everyone else and I'm getting so angry because I have my flights booked (and paid) for Christmas and it seems like I'm not going anywhere.

So I applied for replacement biometric residence permit because of my new marriage family name.

My time line is:
Send documents to UKBA: 27.09.2012
Received acknowledgment letter: 13.10.2012 (stated date 03.10.2012)
Received the invitation for biometrics: 10.10.2012 (stated date 05.10.2012)
Biometrics enrolled: 11.10.2012
Send complained e-mail to UKBA and copied it to MP: 27.11.2012
Received letter from MP: 30.11.2012
Received the standard letter from UKBA: 3.12.2012

I feel so sad and helpless. All plans are ruined.
:( :( :( :( :(

Hi just to share my painful experience with your guys. As you may understand, constantly i can't sleep at night because of the seemingly endless wait for my replacement BRP.

I had my BRP stolen back in June. Immediately reported it to the police and the Home Office. Also quickly posted my application for replacement BRP as well.

Acknowledgement letter dated 20/06/2012 from UKBA received together with Biometrics Enrollment letter.
Enrolled my biometric information at a post office on 26/06/2012

Nothing has been heard from them ever since.
It's been 5 months and 11 days.
Because of the this i couldn't go for holidays since June.
Still can't make any booking for future.

Can't really think straight right now just so stressed and worried. Don't know what I can possibly do.

Hoping someone can help me, as the UKBA cannot...

I submitted my application to change my name on my Biometrics Resident Permit via form BRP(RC).

Here is the first line of my acknowledgement letter:

Thank you for the application by the above-named on Form CRA(TM).

Ummm.... did they put me in a different pile than the BRP(RC) forms? Or is this a subcategory?

If anyone can take a look at their letter (specifically if you did a name change) and let me know if yours says the same thing or references the BRP(RC), I would be appreciative.

The guy I spoke with at the call center recommended I write a letter to ask. Which I will do, but... <sigh>

Damuot No, I don't have any news! :(

KJdancer Yes, I have also received the same thing from UKBA
with Form CRA(TM) mentioned. I did not do anything about it. P.S I'm
changing my name as well.

apple2710 Congratulations!!!

I hope we all get our documents back soon!

Thanks Lenadream! That makes me feel better. Good luck on getting your documents to get home for Christmas.

Congrats Apple!!!

My husband and I plan to write a letter to our MP and the UKBA requesting that they consider allowing a certified copy of a passport as there is no option but to request a replacement card by post. I honestly don't know how they can hold our passports for up to six months when we have permission to be here. At least let us have some form of identification!
