Timeline August 2013

Post by karen8023 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 5:02 pm

Just sent off my BRP RC for a change in surname. Is anyone else completely offended by the fact that you have to send off all of your documents for 4++ weeks along with a 28 page form AND you have to re-enter your biometrics just to get a new card printed? Insanity!

My timeline thus far:

Mailed BRP RC via recorded post: 10/08/2013
BRP RC delivered to Home office: 12/08/2013
Fees cleared: 14/08/2013

No acknowledgement/biometrics enrollment received as of yet. Will try to keep an up to date timeline as things develop!

Issues with BRP

Post by internati29 » Sat Aug 17, 2013 1:33 pm

Hi there.
my Biometrics were taken on 22/07/13
received my BRP on 16/08/13
I Went to open a bank account with it today, but was declined, because BRP was not good enough ID for them (Lloyds TSB, Halifax, Santander) and they want to see passport.
I'm a Refugee, my Passport is with UKBA and is still valid.
Would I be refused if I requested my passport?
Should I apply for a conventional Travel Document, despite my valid passport is held by the Border Agency?

Still Waiting

Post by rapidchaser » Wed Aug 21, 2013 7:24 am

Visa stolen in Rome in late June
Sent application early July
Recieved notification letter 9 July
Recieved Biometric request 22 July
Did biometric registration at post office 23 July
As of August 21 still no BRP
Had a holiday booked for this weekend (prior to visa being stolen) so looks like that is now not going to happen. Disgraceful performance from the Home Office, looking at this forum, it appears completely hit and miss as to whether you get your BRP back in 4 weeks or god knows how long. Cannot believe this department can operate without any accountability - terrible!

Hi all,
I m bit worried and confused since I heard ur dissapointed stories. I have changed my wife's surname on the passport, I have been told that I have to change it on BRP Card as well. My problem is, my and my wife's ILR is due in OCTOBER and if I apply for biometric and I do not receive my BRP Card then its a big problem for me.
So can anyone advice what I should do, is there any option of not apply now and go with old BRP Card. Any suggestion/help will be highly appreciated.

Regards
J

I know that you are allowed to have a name discrepancy on your passport/BRP for up to 3 months without it being an issue. So if the date of your ILR appointment is within 3 months of the new passport being issued, I think it wouldn't be a problem to not do the BRP RC. If it's going to be more than 3 months then technically you have to turn everything in, but you should be concerned about getting the application back in time (esp the original documents you have to send off to do the name change).

Does anyone know if there is a number you can use to contact the UKBA? If that's available, I would call and see if they can advise you on what would be best.

It is now 5th September and still no sign of my replacement card or passport. Over 3 weeks of communications with my local MP to be told that an "IT error" resulted in a backlog - strange given that others on this forum had put their application in after mine and have now recieved their replacement cards. I was suppossed to be leaving this Sunday for a race in Sapin that I have trained for 9 months for, and is part of a fund raising activity for an orphange charity, but whole team has to withdraw now thanks to the unreasonable timeframe to process this replacement to a stolen card. Home Office should be ashamed of themselves and the absurd rules they self-govern by meaning no-one can so much as ask why their visa is taking so long other than pester local government officials!

I sent in my BRP RC for a change in surname due to marriage. My timeline thus far:

Mailed BRP RC via recorded post: 10/08/2013
BRP RC delivered to Home office: 12/08/2013
Fees cleared: 14/08/2013
Acknowledgement letter dated 13/08/2013 received on 16/08/2013

31/08/2013 Mailed via first class post letters to the UKBA Croydon office + the address from the acknowledgement letter urging them to check on my application as I had not received a biometric enrolment letter within 15 working days of mailing my application [which is the promised timeline as quoted in the instructions for the BRP RC application].

Miraculously, on 5/09/2013, I received my biometric enrolment letter dated 2/09/2013
Biometrics enrolled 5/09/2013

Will update again when I hear something from them... Good luck everyone!

Well, my application got rejected for sending the wrong fee even though I sent a £38 postal order and that's exactly the amount on the form. I have a receipt for the postal order, which they kept (ie. stole) but I don't think that proves I sent it to them.

Am I seriously going to have to pay another £38 for the form, £19 for biometric enrolment (why they let my application progress to that stage when my fee was apparently wrong is beyond me) and £5 for passport sized photos (that they also didn't return)?

I'm going to phone them later; at the moment I'm too angry and would probably end up shouting at them which won't get me anywhere.

Lost BRP(RC) - wait times

Post by USExpat84 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 4:45 pm

Hi all, I'm trying to get an idea how long it takes for the passport to be returned. I lost my BRP, reported it and applied for a new BRP on BRP(RC) on 6/09/13. I need to travel in 5 weeks and I'm really worried my passport won't be back in time. They haven't even processed payment yet. Any tips for how I can hurry the process up? I can't find contact details for the Home Office / UKBA anywhere, has anyone had luck getting through on the phone?

Feeling powerless and worried, any advice very welcome!
