Can I Switch Standard Visitor visa to Spouse Visa

Post by Luckyagbomu » Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:20 am

Hello members

Asking for a friend of my wife.
She visited the U.K. end of November 2019 on Standard Visitor visa and she also did some work training etc which is the home office approved before she travelled to the U.K.
She is about to renew the visa in the near future(3 months time I guess)
The question: she asked if she would be able to switch Standard Visitor visa to spouse visa?
She was meant to get married to her fiancé in March obviously 🙄 coronavirus came and British fiancé lost his job.

Please tell us what she can do or can’t do.

No she cannot. She must apply for the spouse visa from her home country.

She cannot switch to any other visa while in the UK on a visitor visa.

You may also want to advise here that she also can't get married in the UK on a visit visa.

If she intends to come to the UK to get married and then live in the UK, she can apply for a fiance visa.

If she is currently in the UK, then see also temporary concessions.
