Divorce in the UK

Post by richard12 » Sat Aug 17, 2019 11:39 am

Hi all,
Hope someone could advise me on this!
I have been married to a UK Citizen for almost 4 years. Our marriage was in Ireland and we also have been living and working in Ireland the whole time. Things haven't been going well so we are thinking of splitting up. As I need to be divorced to apply to retain my visa in Ireland and divorce is really time consuming here, I was wondering if we could get divorced in the UK, since she holds a British passport?
I would appreciate anyone who could give me an advice on this. Thanks a million!

You or your spouse need to be living permanently in the UK to divorce in the UK.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
