Family Visa Mother

Hi,

I would like to invite my mother-in-law to the UK on a Visit Visa. Could you please advise if I can sponsor the Visa or is it better if my wife sponsors it (maybe mother-daughter direct relationship)? My wife is not working also, pls let me know the documents required or procedure for the same.
