Got Married on a short term study visa

Post by elr17am » Mon Jul 01, 2019 7:43 pm

Hello,

I have been living in the Uk as a student since 2012 and I met a lovely two years ago and decided to get married eventually. We gave notice for marriage in November 2018 when I was on a TIer 4 Study Visa. We planned to get married whilst I was on that visa but then we ended up moving the date to make sure all our guests can attend. The marriage date was eventually moved to a date outside my Tier 4 General Visa. In Jan 2019 I switched to a short term study Visa because I had to resit some exams at University. I never knew of any problems with getting married on a short term study visa and we eventually got married in April 2019. I became aware of the issue of getting married on a short term study visa when I was looking into applying for a spouse visa recently and I need some advice on whether I have actually breached immigration rules as the intention of the short term study visa was definitely to sit my exams at university and the marriage was planned even before I switched visas from tier 4.

Anyone can offer any advice please ??

Regards,

Ali

You have to leave and apply from your home country/country of legal residence because the type of visa you are holding is lesser than 6 months.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.
