Lost BRP travelling in 6 days

Post by ABZ4321 » Sat Feb 19, 2022 7:42 pm

Hi ladies and gents.

Hope you can give me some advice.

While trying to get all our paperwork ready for travelling to Pakistan next Saturday, I have misplaced/lost my wife's BRP for ILR.

Now I understand will need to apply for a BRP entry replacement visa which costs 154 pounds

we have 6 days so will report it lost as a last resort, read stories where brp has been found and was reported so it was cancelled. So we can report it if it is the inevitable.

I have the following questions?

1) once reported stolen, do I apply straight away for BRP replacement or shall we wait until we are back? We will be back by 26th March. My issue is if we apply for replacement now my wife may miss her biometric appointment in UK while in Pakistan. We have 3 months to apply I believe

2) this is just my paranoia, but she is okay to travel outside of UK to Pakistan with her Pakistani passport without the BRP(not applied for British yet due to the holiday). I am sure last time we went in 2019 they did not ask for BRP at the check in desk but we can't remember really.

Really appreciate the help

This is what you do if travel is inevitable:
1. Go to Pakistan, no BRP needed.
2. Report BRP lost
3. Apply for the replacement visa in Pakistan. This will be a visa vignette attached on passport. Note that there could be significant delay and you may not get it on time for your return journey.
4. Use the visa to come back to UK
5. Apply for BRP replacement in UK

Thanks for your swift reply.

With regards to number 3 it says on processing times can take 15 days. So we have enough time as I will report/apply when we arrive in PK. We live near a Visa Biometric Centre so we can sort that. I might even pay extra to get the 5 day service.

Can I report my BRP lost her in UK? Or do I have to report it in Pakistan? If I report it here I can get the ball rolling straight away.

I think it does not matter.

Good news. We found the BRP and thankfully did not cancel it.
