I HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR 3 MONTHS UNDER ISLAMIC LAW I AM BRITISH BORN. MY HUSBAND CAME TO THE UK IN 1991 AS A STUDENT. HOWEVER IN 2000 HE APPLIED FOR INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN IN THE UK AND HAS NOT HAD MUCH LUCK SINCE HOME OFFICE STATES HES CASE IS 'PENDING', HOME OFFICE HOLDS HES PASSPORT(INDIAN) SINCE THEN. WHEN WE WENT TO THE REGISTRY OFFICE IN LEICESTER WE WERE TOLD IN ORDER FOR US TO HAVE A CIVIL MARRIAGE WE NEED HES PASSPORT. MY MAIN CONCERN IS WHETHER HE WILL BE SENT BACK TO INDIA WHERE HE IS ORINALLY FROM. NEXT MAY IT WILL BE 14 YRS FOR HIM IN THE UK. HE IS WORKING LEGALLY ALTHOUGH HE DID HAVE PROBS WHEN HE WENT TO JOB AGENCYS AS THEY WERE QUESTIONING WHY HE HAS A TEMPORORY/EMERGENCY NI NUMBER. A LOT OF THINGS IS HOLDING HIM BACK SUCH AS APPLYING FOR A PROVISIONAL LICENCE AS U NEED PASSPORT. WE ARE THINKING OF WRITING TO HOME OFFICE TO EXPLAIN OUR SITUATION PERHAPS THIS COULD SPEED THINGS UP FOR HIM AND BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN UK AS A PERMANENT RESIDENT... HOW SHOULD WE GO ABOUT IT???
I HAVE NEVER DEPENDED ON ANY BENEFITS WHATSOVER I HOLD A HONOURS DEGREE ALL IN ALL I HAVE A GOOD EUCATIONAL BACKGROUND. I WOULD BE MOST GREATFUL FOR ANY ADVICE TIPS ETC.. I HAVE TRIED TO GIVE YOU THE BASIC FACTS FROM WHAT I KNOW. MY HUSBAND IS NOT PRESENT WHILE WRITING THIS SO THERE MAYBE SOME POINTS I MAY NOT HAVE MENTIONED. I WEOULD LIKE TO ADD MY HUSBAND SPEAKS FLUENT ENGLISH. I AM HOPING OUR PROBLEM IS NOT SO COMPLICATED AND THERFORE TAKE LONGER FOR RESULTS. SHOULD WE GET OUR MPS SUPPORT TO SPEED THINGS UP???
IM SORRY I HAVE GONE ON A BIT... JUST WANT SOME POSITIVE RESULTS. THANKYOU.

Please have some nettiquette and dont write in BOLD CAPITALS
Using capitals reads like you are SHOUTING
Where there is a will there is a way.

1. Could you re-type your post (select edit) to remove the 'screaming' effect of CAPS..thanks for your understanding.
2. On what basis did your husband apply for ILR and what was his visa status on the date of application?
