Naturalisation waiting time

Post by Kantaloobi » Fri Jun 04, 2004 10:42 am

Hi

I applied for naturalisation about 16 months ago. At the beginning of March this year I received a letter telling me that they had just started processing my application and are making character enquiries.
Does any one know how long it takes for this process to be completed and me getting a decision??

Many thanks

Hi,

I have read some posts from one Sharadha - who had got her Naturalisation approved and even got her British passport in about 30-40 days altogether. You should visit the old site to read her posts. It might help.

regards.

Try saying that to the officer dealing with my case. I called her to enquire about how long it will take and she nearly bit my head off for calling without having an urgent matter. I think i remember the case when it took around 30-40 days. That is a one off I guess.

All,

My wife applied for BN earl may this year and she just received her
Documents back (passport, P60, payslips etc.) and a letter
Saying that they are making character enquires before giving the decision.

Do you know what is checked during character enquires?

Any past experience on how long is taking from the time they start
Character enquires to decision time?

Thanks,

Bambu

Bwana Bambu,

With regards to character inquiries - I suspect they use the usual sources such as County Court Judgements records and the Criminal Records Bureau ...

..All these agerncies are very slow in providing information....

Chess,

Thanks for your quick response.
