Parents visitor visa for 5 years duration while on ILR

Hi ,

I am applying for my parents visa for 5 years duration. In past 6 times I have always applied for 6 months ( short duration ) visa and have always been granted visa successfully. This time to avoid the documentation hassle I am applying for 5 years long standard visitor visa for my parents. My parents are showing evidence of fund and property documents in India though I am mentioning myself sponsor for their visit. Currently I am on ILR which is valid for another 3 years and in the end I have plan to apply for citizenship.

As my ILR is valid for 3 years , can my parents apply for 5 years long duration visitor visa for now ?

Your ILR doesn't have a validity, it is indefinite. Only your BRP card has an expiry date and you can and should renew the card in due course (around 6 months before it expires)

They can but whether it will be granted will depend almost entirely on their circumstances. The ECO will weigh up whether they have sufficiently strong ties to India that would make them return home after each visit. Their past visit records will certainly help in this regard.

That helps. I am little confused , do you suggest to take chance or reduce the visa duration from 5 years to 2 years ?

Outcome of the application not predictable, it will depend primarily on the strength of the evidence submitted showing your parents' ties to India, but a 2 year visa application has probably a better chance of succeeding than a 5 year application.
