Standard Visitor Visa Validity

Does anyone know what the validity of the standard visitor visa is? For example, if I put down 15th July for travelling on the application form I assume it will start from the 15th July but will there be a time limit on when I have to travel by? Let's say, one month or maybe a few month? I can't see this info anywhere.

A visitor visa is valid for 6 months. You can travel at any time within the 6 months and must leave the uk by the visa expiry date.

Oh thank you. So it is valid from whatever date I put on the form? That would make a big difference to what date I put down. Thanks again.
