UK Standard Visit Visa Application Submitted - Cochin, India

Post by Prem » Sun Mar 20, 2016 9:00 am

Hi all

After a few months of doing research, I have finally submitted online application for 6 month Visit visa for my father in law (58), mother in law (52) and sister in law (21).

There is a new link to use for those applying from China and India for certain visas, SVV fees have increased from 8500 INR to 8700 INR.

I'm bringing my in laws over to celebrate the birth of our 2nd child which is due on June 7th, and to take part in the naming ceremony. I will be paying for the entire trip.

Appointments are on Thursday 24th in the afternoon, and when printing out application and check list you have to print using the "draft settings" rather than normal or best.

Here is what I have put in the application:

My Docs
Sponsor Letter
Passport Copies including wife and daughter to show yearly trips to India
Bank: 6 Month Current Account Statement with stamps on each page from bank, same for savings account
Employment Letter
Pay rise & bonus letter
Pay Slip 6 months
P60
House Deed
Mortgage Statement
Valuation
Property Details
Birth Certificates (to show relations to in-laws)
Marriage Certificate
Pregnancy Letter from Doctor showing Due Date
MatB1 Certificate
Scan Appointment Letter
Council Tax
Water Bill
Gas Bill

All Applicants
Application
Document check list showing appointment
Passport
Passport Size Photo
Covering Letter
Indian IDs
SU07 Form

Applicant 1 - Father in Law
Bank Statements, FD Proof, investments
Pension income proof, Interest from investment Proof
Letter Local Temple stating he is the secretary and has been an active member since 1990
Marriage Certificate

Applicant 2 - Mother in Law
Bank Statement Joint Account
Deed to house/land & Translation

Applicant 3 - Sister in Law
Birth Certificate
Education certificates
Letter (NOC) from current studying institution, showing that they are happy to give her leave and to comeback by August 2016, for exam in December.
Family Tree showing relatives in India/Dubai.

and copies for all the evidence that is being submitted.

Probably gone a bit overboard on my side, as i think the decision of these applications will depend on whether i have shown enough ties to India.

Fingers crossed!

So my in-laws went today to Cochin to submit their applications, all relatively straight forward. Just a couple of points, they won’t allow you to take in any bags and there is no place to store them (So they just left it outside and it was there when there returned luckily). The people who were collecting the docs were very helpful, checking each doc before allowing it to be submitted. Also making sure there were no duplicates, as we had 3 applications. Making sure to take photocopies for applicants documents.

The only other part I was confused about was when on the Visa site after completing payment and choosing the appointment, on 6. Download and print, and then “Thing to Do”, after downloading\print application form and checklist. There is a Register with our visa application centre partner, this will allow you to track your application, get directions to the centre and access other services.
Anyone else who has applied can you confirm is there a way to track your application as the links take me to the following places

https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/global/index.html

Select country, and then takes you here:
http://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/India/

But I doubt you can track your visa online

Also you can pay for Courier and SMS at submission, taken from the site: for courier cases you can track the status of your shipment delivery by putting the GWF Reference number on the reference number column available on the Blue Dart website at http://www.bluedart.com

So just a waiting game now!! Wish us luck :D :)

Just a very brief update, received the following email this morning at 10:30am

Dear XXX

GWF Reference No : GWXXXXXXXXX

Your UK visa application has now been received at the British Deputy High Commission in Chennai and will shortly be considered by an Entry Clearance Officer.

We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service) and settlement applications within 60 working days.

You will receive a further e-mail advising you of the outcome of your application.

Regards
UK Visas & Immigration
British Deputy High Commission
Chennai

I take it they don't inform you of the outcome of the visit visa descison via email and its just a generic email that is sent?

Hi, Thank you for the detailed updates. I applied from Cochin on the 28th of March. I am yet to receive the aforementioned email confirming the acceptance of documents. This probably has something to do with the Easter rush. From my previous experience with VFS Cochin, though they say that they will inform you of the outcome, that hasn't been the case. I received a generic email saying that the application has been processed and sent to VFS, and nothing whatsoever about the decision. Until you open the courier, you can never really be sure.

I will post my updates here as well.

Hi Orgone,

Happy to help and glad I"ve found someone in a similar position to me

Email was received on the 3rd working day after submission. Cochin was closed on Good Friday, but open on Easter Monday, so I would expect you to receive an email today, the email comes from MADRAVisaInfo@fco.gov.uk, please look in your junk mail also.

Have you applied for a visit visa before? I'm assuming so? How long did your previous application take to process? Also on the day of submission they recieved a sms message for the 3 applications, saying the applications were being forwarded to UKVI. Did receive this? You had to pay for courier and sms service separately.

Thanks for the info regarding the email, I assumed this was the case. I wish they would word there emails better!

Hi,

I applied on Monty Thursday last year (April 2nd). I received a confirmation email from UKBA on April 8th, after Easter, and received a further email on the 15th. I collected the passport from the courier on the 18th. All in all, it took me 16 days, although this included the Easter weekend as well.

Considering the fact that I still haven't received a confirmation email yet, I assume that UKVI is a bit busier than last year.

Last year I applied visitor visa for my parents. They got 6 months visa, from 15/07/15 to 15/01/16. Both my parents returned to India on 9th October. I would like to re-apply visitor visa for my mother, but someone advised me I can not apply only after 6 months last visa expiry. That means after July 2017, Is this right ?
I strongly recommend taking medical insurance when bringing parents to UK, Reliance Insurance is good.

I don't believe thats the case. But if your parents\mother are staying in the UK every year for 4 months, then I'm sure the ECO will see this as residing, rather than visiting. Just be careful of that.

Thanks for the tip regarding medical insurance, I have taken out medical insurance already and submitted as evidence, whether that will help or not i don't know.

Hello, I received an email from UKVI earlier today confirming the receipt of the documents. Now, all that's left is cautious optimism.

No just standard. Makes you think is it ok or is there something wrong with the quick decision, just got to wait.

Hi,

A quick decision doesn't really mean a bad result. I read somewhere that an ECO only has a quota of few minutes to decide an application. Your application just happened to be on top of the pile, probably because your in-laws have travelled to the UK before. Considering the quick turnaround in your case, I am hoping to get my visa processed tomorrow :)

Good News, All 3 Visas granted :D My sister in laws application was the one i was most worried about, but by Gods grace and help from researching other people applications it was all ok

Visa stamped from 31 March 2016 to end of Septemeber 2016.

In all the process from appoinment date to collection of passports & documents, took exactly 1 week.

I'm by no means an expert, but if you follow the guidelines and provide sufficent evidence as to what you stat in the application, you should be alright.

Did you receive an email from the Home Office stating that the application has been processed? Or did you directly hear from VFS?

Good Luck! I hope its successful, you can track using http://www.bluedart.com just put your GWF reference in, numbers no letters, and if it begins with 0, don't include the 0. Change the option from waybill to ref no.
