Uk Tourist Visa - Can it be renewed while in UK?

Hi ,

I have got my parents visa done in May but due to India being red listed by UK gov due to covid - they could not travel . While we are now permitted for them to travel in amber corridor, the visa tenure is short lived now for them to stay with us here in UK.
Therefore, I needed to know if home office permits tourist visa renewals or do we need to leave and reapply?

No. They have to leave and reapply from home country.

Also keep in mind that the idea of a six month visit visa is that they have a (short) visit within the six months, not that they stay in the UK for six months necessarily.
