Visit visa to UK for aunt from Pakistan

Post by Ameela92 » Sun Mar 05, 2023 11:59 pm

Hi all,

I would like some advice on sponsoring my maternal aunt from Pakistan to visit me in UK for about 2 weeks. This would be her first visit to the UK. She is about 65+ and I would like some advice.
Firstly, is it the Standard Visitor Visa I need to apply for her and is the visa issued exactly for 2 weeks, or the maximum of 6 months? As is her first time to UK I dont want apply for exact 6 months, as they could get suspicious.
Secondly, I would sponsor her visit to the UK but I will not be paying for her tickets (her sons will pay from Pakistan). I will pay for her in the UK, food, outings etc. I have no savings as on Mat leave and money is tight but I can support her for the two weeks. This is a social visit, as she will visit my mum and my baby and family.
She has her own son in the UK who cannot sponsor her, due to his work and tax, something I am not fully aware of. Will they be vary of this fact, that her own son is not inviting her? Or do I not mention him at all?
I am a private renter, on periodic monthly rolling contract my assured shorthold tenancy expired, so there is no new tenancy signed. Would this be an issue? Do I need to provide a letter from landlord who states she is ok to stay with me for 2 weeks.
What proof do I give for ties to Pakistan. She has no bank accounts, she lives with her two sons there who bear her expenses. They have their own home, but it is in the village, so I am pretty sure they might not have any deeds/paperwork to the property.
What do I use to show her expenditure in Pakistan? Her sons bank statements? Wage slips?
She will return back as her sons and grandchildren are all there.
I am also on Mat leave so my wages are considerably lower than my usual pay. I will return back to work full time in October.
Can anyone see this as being successful or shall I leave it?

Many thanks

Firstly, is it the Standard Visitor Visa I need to apply for her Yes she needs to apply for a standard visitors visa and is the visa issued exactly for 2 weeks, or the maximum of 6 months? The least visa is for 6 months and it goes up to 10 years. Regardless of visa length, she can stay a max of 6 months. As is her first time to UK I dont want apply for exact 6 months, as they could get suspicious. To minimise loss of funds, you apply for 6 months with her planning to stay for a maximum 2 weeks holidays.
Secondly, I would sponsor her visit to the UK but I will not be paying for her tickets (her sons will pay from Pakistan). I will pay for her in the UK, food, outings etc. You need to add that to her invitation letter.
There a part in the form that asks about family in the UK. She would have to disclose this, then add his full details to the form. This would definitely raise some concerns for further scrutiny. If his immigration status is remotely in question, then a great chance it doesn't work.Or do I not mention him at all? Possible, but that could work against her on a later date. Let them make that choice.

They have their own home, but it is in the village, so I am pretty sure they might not have any deeds/paperwork to the property. Her Sons would be in the best position to do that. They need to write a letter of full sponsorship for their mother, saying that they are sponsoring her to spend sometime in the UK with her sister. They need to add all documents as if they were the ones applying. Work letter, 6 months payslips and bank statements. Proof that their mum lives with them. Anything that comes to their minds goes into documents list/

Can anyone see this as being successful or shall I leave it? 50/50 it could work. If the children have a lot of funds to play around with.

Many thanks
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
