When do I apply for ILR?

Post by nexgen » Thu Jan 06, 2005 10:21 am

Hello

Could you please enlighten me on when I should apply for my ILR? It is a long way off, but I guess it pays to be in the know in advance :)

The details are as under:

-I am a citizen of India.
-I arrived in the UK on 28 August 2002 on a visitor visa.
-I was offered employment here on 15 October 2002 and was given an appointment letter.
-The work permit was approved on 7 November 2002.
-My passport was returned with the Leave to remain endorsed on 16 December 2002.

My question therefore is Do I apply for ILR in August 2006 or October 2006.

Thanks,
Nexgen

Any time you have spent on a visitor's visa will not be counted for ILR. You will have to calculate 4 years from the date of your work permit stamp i.e Dec 2006. You should be able to apply or ask for an appointment sometime in Nov.
